JEE Main Maths Syllabus 2027: Complete Chapter-Wise Topics

Maths in JEE Main rewards speed and accuracy more than any other subject — most chapters build directly on earlier ones, so a gap in Algebra or Calculus tends to show up again in later units.

This is part of our complete JEE Main Syllabus 2027 guide.

Unit-Wise Maths Syllabus

Tap any chapter below to open its own detailed breakdown.

#UnitTopics
1Sets, Relations & FunctionsTypes of relations, functions, one-one/onto, composition of functions
2Complex Numbers & Quadratic EquationsArgand plane, modulus & argument, nature of roots
3Matrices & DeterminantsMatrix operations, adjoint & inverse, solving linear systems
4Permutations & CombinationsFundamental principle of counting, P(n,r), C(n,r)
5Binomial TheoremGeneral term, middle term, applications
6Sequence & SeriesArithmetic & geometric progressions, AM-GM relation
7Limit, Continuity & DifferentiabilityStandard limits, derivatives of all standard function types
8Integral CalculusStandard integrals, definite integrals, area under curves
9Differential EquationsOrder & degree, variable separable, linear first-order equations
10Co-ordinate GeometryStraight lines, circles, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola
11Three Dimensional GeometryDirection cosines/ratios, equation of a line, shortest distance between skew lines
12Vector AlgebraAddition, scalar & vector products
13Statistics & ProbabilityMean, median, mode, variance, Bayes' theorem, probability distributions
14TrigonometryTrigonometric identities, inverse trigonometric functions

Note: Application of Derivatives is generally studied as an extension within the Limits/Continuity/Differentiability unit rather than as a separate NTA-listed unit.

Chapter Priority

Based on past exam trends, not an officially published NTA weightage.

  • Consistently high-yield: Coordinate Geometry, Integral & Differential Calculus, Complex Numbers & Quadratic Equations, Matrices & Determinants
  • Steady, moderate presence: Vector Algebra, 3D Geometry, Probability & Statistics
  • Fewer but predictable questions: Sets/Relations/Functions, Sequence & Series, Trigonometry (also embedded across other chapters)

How to Prepare

  1. Master Calculus (Limits → Differentiation → Application → Integration → Differential Equations) as one connected block — it's the single largest scoring zone.
  2. Coordinate Geometry and Vectors/3D share a lot of underlying logic — study them back-to-back.
  3. Speed-drill Complex Numbers, P&C, and Binomial Theorem — these are usually the fastest-solvable questions once the concept is clear.
