JEE Main Class 11 Study Plan: Build the Base Without Burning Out
Class 11 is where the JEE foundation is built. A practical weekly rhythm, subject by subject, that balances school, coaching and self-study.

If you are in Class 11, you are in the best position to prepare well: you have time. The goal this year is not to finish everything fast. It is to build a base that will not crack under Class 12 load.
The principles
- Understand first, then practise. A concept you really understand needs fewer questions.
- Practise by chapter. Finish each chapter with its PYQs.
- Protect your routine. Sleep, food and a break each week matter more than an extra hour.
A weekly rhythm
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Mon–Tue | Physics: new chapter and examples |
| Wed–Thu | Chemistry: physical and organic basics |
| Fri | Maths: practice set |
| Sat | Chapter-wise PYQs and error log |
| Sun | Short test and revision, then rest |
Chapters that build the base
These Class 11 level chapters feed many later ones:
- Kinematics and Laws of Motion for all of mechanics
- Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry and Atomic Structure for Chemistry
- Some Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry for every organic chapter
- Co-ordinate Geometry and Trigonometry for Maths
Use weightage lightly this year
At this stage, weightage should guide your order, not your decision to skip. See the tier list when you are choosing what to do first.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start JEE Main preparation?
Class 11 is ideal. Start with fundamentals and chapter-wise practice rather than speed.
How many hours a day should I study?
It depends on your school and coaching load. Aim for a routine you can keep up for months, not a burst you cannot.
