How to Revise JEE Main Chemistry: Physical, Organic and Inorganic

Use separate revision techniques for Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and connect notes with practice.

One subject, three different revision needs

Chemistry becomes easier to organise when you stop revising every chapter in exactly the same way. Always check the current official syllabus before deciding what to include.

Physical Chemistry

Focus on understanding quantities, relationships, units and calculation steps. Keep a formula sheet that explains each variable, then practise problems without consulting it immediately.

Organic Chemistry

Build a concept-first revision system. Organise relevant mechanisms, reagents, conditions and transformations into original tables. Ask why a reaction proceeds rather than memorising a disconnected final product.

Inorganic Chemistry

Use concise tables, repeated recall and comparison of easily confused facts. Check all exceptions and factual claims against reliable reference material.

A chapter revision checklist

  • Can I explain the main ideas without the notes?
  • Can I solve a basic question independently?
  • Have I reviewed my previous mistakes?
  • Have I marked facts or methods I keep confusing?

Use practice to test your notes

After each chapter, attempt available relevant questions and add only the errors worth revisiting to your summary sheet.
